Corvette Vision Gran Turismo Concept Teased Ahead Of 2014 LA Auto Show

General Motors Design is preparing to unveil its contribution to the Vision Gran Turismo project, and it looks like it’s going to be a Corvette of sorts.

The teaser photo was posted on the Corvette Facebook page with a caption reading, “When you combine the passion of the video gamer community with the passion of Corvette fans, you get the surprise we have in store for you in a few days. Stay tuned.” The teaser photo is difficult to make out, but shows abundant lens flare and a red Chevrolet bowtie can be seen gracing the concept Corvette. We’re not even sure what angle of the vehicle we’re looking at here, but nonetheless, it’s exciting to speculate about what GM Design has cooked up for the virtual playground.

It is interesting to note the lack of Chevrolet here, as the car is branded exclusively as a Corvette. Chevrolet isn’t listed under participating automakers either, but GM Design is.

If you’re unfamiliar with the goal of Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi’s Vision Gran Turismo project, its intention is to have automotive manufacturers dream up, and then present their representation of what they feel “Gran Turismo” is. With Gran Turismo representing the classic tried and true formula of a two-door sports car.

These concepts aren’t taken lightly, and design crews create very compelling pieces of automotive artwork. The project has spawned other creations such as the Nissan 2020 concept (which is rumored to preview the next GT-R), and the highly celebrated Toyota FT-1 GT. With that in mind, perhaps we may see whatever design showcased on this concept in the near future for a C8, or the anticipated Zora model. Or to reach even further, maybe, just maybe, General Motors will let virtual race drivers pilot a mid-engined Corvette. Hey, anything’s possible right?

As noted above, the concept will be revealed in the next few days, so be sure to stay tuned for more information on the Corvette Vision GT concept right here. In the meantime, let us know down below in the comments what you think we’re looking at in the above photo.
