The Texas State Fair might be known as a celebration of Texan culture, and deep frying everything from peanut butter cups to cola (seriously), but it also happens to be the world’s largest auto show in terms of attendance. It also spans several weeks, so there you go. And with such an opportunity to captivate so many attendees, there was no need for Chevrolet to wait until SEMA to show off the 2014 Silverado Black Ops Concept. And it’s enough to make a prepper weep with joy.
This doomsday-ready vehicle features custom-fabricated lower body armor and a lockable, bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit. It holds a solar power pack, a pair of gas masks, gloves, military First Aid Kit, folding shovel and rope. On top of the storage unit is are separate fuel and water cans, and a food crate. The front also features a winch, tow hooks, and a light to help sort things out in the dark.
And because this is a 2014 Silverado, it features necessities already found on the production models, such as an an EZ Lift tailgate, a Corner Step rear bumper, and the new 5.3L EcoTec3 V8, along with factory-rated towing and hauling capabilities.
