Facebook Fridays: Bunch Of Ill-Mannered Whiners Edition

This week’s Facebook Friday brings a myriad of complaints and grievances, but delivered in a bitchy manner that we’re not particularly fond of. Additionally, the few remarks about GM’s new global advertising agency (that’s based in the U.K. but will have an office in Detroit) most likely come from people who have no idea as to the intricate nature of such organizations or their capabilities… but hey, ignorance and lack of information hasn’t stopped them from opening their traps before.

Dear GM–“Stunt Anthem” is a work of marketing genius!! However, the Volt “Aliens” spot is embarrassing… please do not air it–its not funny and no one wants to associate their $44,000 car with peculiar 3D renditions of aliens.

GM is going to get put out of business, if they keep up BS like this: I go to the dealership to ask how much a dashboard instrument panel *bulb* is going to cost. (It’s my “check engine” bulb that burnt out.) The parts guy says they offer no replacement bulb and claim the only fix is to …. buy a NEW INSTRUMENT PANEL/SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER! So they expect me to pay $300 for the cluster, & $200 for labor just because a bulb burnt out!! It costs $1.89 for this bulb. So GM, … WHAT’S UP? (not GM sales, that’s for sure! No wonder 8 out of 10 cars on the road are imports.)

‘American made’ I’m ashamed to say it. The reason the US government bailed out GM is because the build such wonderful CRAP! 40,000 miles and the entire left side turn signals quit working. Why? Why even bother building cars? Contract it all out to Isuzu, like you did in the late 90’s

$$$$$$$$Billions to British ad firm? Instead of an American agency? Really? My first memo this morning is to our fleet manager–buy FORD from now on. Gee, M!

I have bought American Cars and from GM all my Life! Because as an American I thought it was the right thing to do and still do!!! This morning I find out that you gave your entire 3 Billion Dollar ad campaign account to a British company!!!!???? You do this when our Country’s economy is in horrible trouble??? And after you were bailed out by the American People!!!!! I feel like I was just kicked in the teeth!!! I realy don’t know what else to say!

I will never buy a gm product again! I bought a 2012 silverado crew cab and the dealership wouldnt honor any rebates or the friends and family pricing! Jack Schmitt of ofallon Illinois is not a good dealership… I hope u choose wisely when u decide to buy.

Tell me, so why couldnt General Motors get Mathew Broderick to do a commerical for Corvette? I cant believe Honda come up with the “Ferris Bueller” ad and GM didnt!! What a missed opportunity!!!

GM, its easy to be #1 when a tsunami takes out your competition.

chevy had the best reputation of all the gm brands…….. Than along came the volt

To whom it may concern at General Motors. My name is Randy Nichols. I live in lima ohio. I was listening to AFR Radio station today. I was sad to hear that you all have outsourced your advertising to another country. I have been standing up to everybody that will listen to me about buying american products. I stand up and tell people not to buy hondas and toyato’s or any other foreign car to support our country. And now i hear this. I have always owned american built cars. And believe me when i say i stand up for your company. And to hear this makes me mad. As an american we have enough of the big business letting us down. I am unemployed at this time and have been for a long time. You know at this rate we are talking up buying american and you all do this. I will always buy american cars. I am ashamed of you for i have tried hard as many people have to support our american companys. This is whats on my mind. Are you an american company or are you just selling us out for your own pockets? For i bet if you all lost your job because of outsourcing. Then you would not do it to others. Thank You for reading this. Randy Nichols Lima Ohio

In other news, the Saab faithful are still posting photos of their outdated Saabs on GM’s Facebook Wall… but we omitted their comments for our sanity.

  1. I guess those complaining about GM’s Media decision missed this part:

“It is expected that Carat will spend an estimated $3 billion worldwide this year alone on a global media strategy for the company, which will be managed and coordinated through Carat’s global US team.”

So the global strategy will be managed and coordinated IN THE US. So, what’s the problem?

  2. Sounds like those opposed to the Media strategy forgot to read this part of GM’s press release:

“The remit of the multi-year contract includes media planning and buying, search, social media and mobile communications and the relationship will be managed and co-ordinated through Carat’s global US team.”

So we have global strategy co-ordinated through a Carat’s US TEAM. What’s so wrong about that?

  3. Umm, I don’t really see anything wrong with these posts. It is the American way after all. “I’m mad as H@*& and not going to take it anymore!”. The angry American. That is what life is like today, Sorry I do not agree with you. I only hope GM is paying attention because this could signal a trend that people are losing faith. And when that happens they will be quick to open their wallets to some other company. Just saying.
