AEV Launches Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition Front Bumper Winch

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is now offering a new front bumper winch system for the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition. Manufactured by COMEUP, the winch was designed to enhance the off-road recovery capabilities of both off-road enthusiast trucks, and integrates seamlessly with AEV’s stamped steel front bumper, providing an OEM-level fit and finish that complements the vehicles’ design, as well as its function. The winch also boasts a substantial pulling capacity of 9,500 pounds.

Dubbed the COMEUP Slim 9.5RS, this winch was built for reliability in harsh conditions. It operates on 12-volt power and features a thermal protection switch to prevent overheating. The heart of the system is a hardened steel, three-gear planetary gear train that delivers smooth and consistent performance, while the 12-strand, 100-foot synthetic rope is specially coated for abrasion resistance and to repel water, ensuring durability in just about any off-road environment.

The Slim 9.5RS winch also incorporates a mechanical cone brake situated outside the drum, which dissipates heat effectively during extended use. In addition, the winch includes a sealed contractor housing with silver-alloy contact pads and copper buss bars, all designed for submersible operation. Control options include both a waterproof wired remote and a wireless Bluetooth remote, providing users with some added flexibility.

AEV lists the winch system at $2,260 on its website, with the installation procedure classified as “Advanced” and requiring approximately seven hours.

Alternatively, customers with a 2024 Colorado ZR2 Bison or 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV Edition can buy a COMEUP winch straight from GM as part of the optional Recovery Package (RPO code PCN), priced at $2,925. In addition to the COMEUP winch (RPO code VW1), the package also includes an off-road recovery kit (RPO code S1H). To note, upgrading to the optional Recovery Package requires the purchase of an additional accessory switch kit (RPO code VZJ, $470) to enable full functionality.

    1. Stop lying. Your Tacoma cannot tow as much….and will be about as reliable as you take care of it. NOT MORE.

    2. I also was once fooled like Larry! Take it from someone who has driven both, Toyota is NOT more reliable.
