Overview
When it was built, the GM Rayong plant in Thailand was one of five new plants built outside North America in the late 1990s that incorporated GM’s Lean manufacturing system GM GMS, a common company-wide production system according to the principles of the Lean production and zero defect. The GM Rayong Assembly plant is integrated with the GM Rayong Powertrain plant. The two plants share the same plot of land yet have slightly different physical addresses.
Products
The GM Rayong plant serves as a regional hub for vehicle production, both for the domestic Thai market as well as for export under the Chevrolet and Holden brands. The factory produces the following vehicles:
- Chevrolet Colorado (International markets) and Holden Colorado (Australia and New Zealand)
- Chevrolet Trailblazer (International markets) and Holden Trailblazer, previously known as Holden Colorado 7 (Australia and New Zealand)
- Chevrolet Captiva (first-generation, three-row version)
- Chevrolet Cruze (first generation)
