The GM Gravataí factory produces the following vehicles for the Brazilian and South American markets:

Investments

  • Late 1990s: GM begins to plan Gravataí plant as part of a $3.6 billion project, with the plant designed to introduce a new range of small cars built with new production methods.
  • 2009: GM announces $3 billion investment in Brazil. The plan was revised in 2012 to develop and launch new Chevrolet products as well as update and add capacity to its plants. As part of the plan, GM invested $1 billion in the Chevrolet Onix project to develop the new small car family and to expand capacity from 230,000 to 380,000 vehicles per year at the Gravataí plant.
  • August 2018: GM announces a R$ 1.4 billion ($437 million USD) investment to expand the production volume of Gravataí to produce a new model, representing the third expansion of the complex.
