2016 Chevrolet Silverado

The Chevrolet Silverado line of full-size pickup trucks is expected to receive a refresh for the 2016 model year.

This page is a work-in-progress and contains speculative information. If you notice any inaccuracies or have more information to contribute about the 2016 Silverado, please let us know here.

Two years into the lifecycle of the third generation K2XX-platformed Silverado, the full-size pickup truck line is being refreshed to include a revised design, more variants, more technology, and possibly a new Heavy Duty version.

What?

A fresher, more attractive, and more technologically-laden range of Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup trucks

Why?

To continue attracting customers despite the mind-share advantages associated with the aluminum body of the 2015 Ford F-150.

When?

The 2016 Chevy Silverado is expected to debut sometime in the summer of 2015, and go on sale in the late summer or fall of 2015.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will receive a restyled exterior, with most of the changes seen in the front of the vehicle. Dealer sources described the design as “bolder and more aggressive” than the 2014-2015 Silverado.

We’ve been told that LED headlights will finally make their way to the Silverado for the 2016 model year.

The 2016 Silverado will receive a few updates to its cabin, including revisions to its design and and new technology.

The 2016 Silverado is expected to receive several new technologies, including a new trailer attachment assistant, a new inductive cell phone charging feature, and more.

The 2016 Silverado is expected to keep the same three-engined engine lineup as the 2014-2015 models, including the following EcoTec3 variants:

It’s also possible that the 2016 Silverado will see expanded availability of GM’s 8-speed automatic transmission outside of the 6.2L V8 engine.

Those hoping for a diesel engine in the Silverado 1500 will need to continue waiting, as the option isn’t likely to become available.

We expect the 2016 Chevy Silverado to see revisions to its trim level structure, possibly adding a new base “L” trim level, while replacing the LTZ trim with Premier.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will continue competing in the full-size pickup trucks space against the:

  • Ford F-Series
  • GMC Sierra
  • Ram Truck
  • Toyota Tundra
  • Nissan Titan

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will continue riding on GM’s K2XX platform. The full-size pickup truck and SUV architecture is also known as GMT K2.

We expect the 2016 Chevy Silverado to continue carrying a base price of $26,000.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will continue being produced at GM’s Fort Wayne, Indiana plant.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will begin arriving in dealerships across the U.S. in late summer or early fall of 2015.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado will continue being available with three cab and bed configurations, including:

Cabs

  • Regular Cab
  • Double Cab
  • Crew Cab

Beds

New versions of the Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty and Silverado 3500 Heavy Duty could debut for the 2016 model year. If Chevrolet does, indeed, debut the updated Silverado HDs for the 2016 MY, we expect them to adopt the exterior and interior design updates of the 2016 Silverado 1500 while gaining an all-new platform, and an all-new gasoline and Duramax diesel engine range mated to a new transmission.
