Katech Engines Releases Its LS3-Based 416 Short Block Engine For $5,899.99

Katech Engines has released its LS3-based, 416-cubic inch short block with a price tag of $5,899.99. That’s a pretty penny, and a fair bit more than the competing 427-cubic inch short block by BluePrint, which Speedway Motors offers for $5,025.99, but Katech is one of the biggest names in the business, and the company says this bottom end is capable of handling more than 900 horsepower.

The robust engine has a compression ratio of 10.9:1 and a redline of 7,000 RPM. It gets its durability from a forged 4340 steel crankshaft, forged H-beam rods, and forged 4032 aluminum pistons, all of which sounds like a recipe for a solid foundation for most any high-power build.

If you wanted to opt for the long block, the price leaps to $10,786. That option exchanges the 4032 pistons for 2618 pistons, which are a bit more forgiving in boosted applications, and includes CNC-ported LS3 heads, Katech 416-spec cams with Cadillac Racing lifters, factory LS3 valves and induction, a Camaro oil pan and wet sump with Katech’s oil pump, and a Camaro water pump and damper with a Katech tensioner.
