The Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty family — comprised of the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD — is getting a series of updates and changes for the 2018 model year that are similar to those seen on its smaller 1500-level brother.
On the outside, the 2018 Silverado HD loses three exterior colors while gaining two new ones:
Deleted Colors
- Siren Red Tintcoat
- Butte Red Metallic
- Pepperdust Metallic
New Colors
- Havana Metallic
- Cajun Red Tintcoat
Other changes to the exterior of the 2018 Silverado Heavy Duty is the addition new box side decals on Z71 and 4×4 models as well as two new grilles: models equipped with the Z71 package get a new black mesh grille with 2-bar dark chrome insert, while High Country models get a new black mesh grille with a 2-bar chrome insert.
As on the Silverado 1500, the biggest changes to the 2018 Silverado HDs is the addition of various standard equipment inside the cabin, including:
- The addition of a standard Rear Vision Camera across all models; on the 2017 Silverado HD, the rear view camera was optional on the Work Truck (1WT) trim level
- The replacement of the base 4-speaker audio system with a 6-speaker sound system on Work Truck (1WT) Regular Cab models
- The replacement of the base AM/FM stereo with 4.2-inch diagonal color display with Chevrolet MyLink Radio with 7″ diagonal color touch-screen as standard equipment on Work Truck (1WT) trim. Other models get the Chevrolet MyLink Radio with 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen (IO5) or the same unit with embedded navigation (IO6)
Finally, GM’s new Tire Fill Alert technology is added to the Tire Pressure Monitoring system on single rear wheel (SRW) models.
The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.
Depending on configuration, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado HD is assembled in two GM factories in the U.S.:
- GM Flint Assembly in Flint, Michigan, USA
- GM Fort Wayne Assembly in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
