What was once developed for the video game community has quickly expanded to the automotive industry to give consumers a detailed look at automotive manufacturers’ latest and greatest. That technology is Oculus Rift.
The Oculus Rift technology encompasses the viewer in a virtual world like no other, and Holden is inviting State of Origin fans to experience the technology at three Holden State of Origin games.
The virtual world takes place in an off-road experience involving the 2015 Holden Colorado, where users will be taken on a mission to deliver a mysterious box, while showcasing the 2015 Colorado’s off-road supremacy. The Oculus Rift technology will also showcase the spectacular New Zealand landscapes along the way.
Participants will be recorded, and may share their experience with friends through social media.
Holden’s Executive Director of Marketing, Geraldine Davys, said the technology demonstrated in the CoDriver project was a potential pointer to the future of vehicle retail experiences, as Holden is always looking for new, unique ways to convey a message.
“Holden is always looking for innovative ways to demonstrate products and give buyers a more exciting experience and CoDriver is the first step in this project,” said Davys.
“Combinations of different VR technologies may serve as an example of the future direction for Holden dealers, allowing customers to experience cars in environments a world away from their local dealership.”
The next two stops for fans to experience the 2015 Colorado will be June 17 – MCG, Melbourne, and July 8 – Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
