Ten new-home builds and 15 neighborhood revitalization projects are now on Habitat For Humanity‘s agenda after receiving a $1.45 million influx from the General Motors Foundation. The money will help also be used for a special veterans’ initiative to help U.S. military service members and veterans access programs for them to become homeowners or improve their current living conditions.
“An important factor in building stronger families and communities is the stability of a permanent home,” said GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard. “This constancy is particularly important for our veterans and military service members, and we are committed to helping them – and the Habitat partner families – realize home ownership and take advantage of programs designed to move their lives forward in positive ways.” This is the second year in a row that the GM Foundation has provided national funding to Habitat For Humanity.
The construction and revitalization projects will occur in the following cities with teamGM Cares volunteers involved in all projects:
