Small automotive startup company Equus has recently been making waves on the internet for its retro styled modern muscle car, the Equus Bass 770. And while it may remind some of us of classic Camaros, it shares hardware with something a little more impressive.
The light, full aluminum body sits on a custom chassis with adjustable magnetic suspension, under the hood sits the 640 hp, 6.2 liter supercharged LS9 V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.  According to its makers, the Equus Bass will do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and accelerate all the way to 200 mph. It has the hardware to back up the big power too, with carbon ceramic brakes and a twin-plated clutch manual gearbox.
On the inside it’s more retro styling with modern technology. The Bass 770 is equipped with air conditioning, a radio with CD and DVD compatibility, GPS, a USB port, tire pressure monitoring system and cruise control.  It’s luxurious, too, with leather seating surfaces and an Alcantara roofliner.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well it all comes at a price. $253,000 to be exact. So unlike some muscle cars, it’s not going to be known for its affordability. Then again, this isn’t just any muscle car.

I’d say exterior styling is more Challenger + Mustang than Camaro. GM blog sure, but you can still call a spade a spade.
Camaro looks?………..you are either cross-eyed or delirious. I see nothing Camaro like. It has the appearance of a late 60’s Mustang Fastback with a Challenger grille. The new tech and retro looks are refreshing and attention getting. It’s way over priced, but that is the result of a non-mass-produced auto. Niche autos have a market, but rarely last for more than a few years before saturating their market and fading away. Collect yours now!
The front grille resembles the Plymouth Barracuda’s more than the Dodge Challenger’s.
All I see is someone who can’t let go of retro and design something contemporary and new.
Grawdaddy— contemporary and new???? what like a Honda civic??….lol
If you see the other photo’s of this car you will see it is mostly a 67 Mustang GT. Why would you want to take a reproduction Mustang body mess the nose up and then install a GM engine and expect people to buy it for near a quarter million I just do not understand.
They would have been better off taking a Dynacor repo 69 Camaro body doing a retro rod with the LS9 engine.
The car shown here would have done better using a Roush crate engine to make the Ford fans happy and leave the Chevy engine to something that has the look of a Chevy. Sorry but there is really no Camaro to be seen here.
For this price I would buy a ZR1 and a Z06 then take the change for a Cruze to drive when it rains.
Nice car, but there must be some way to make it cheaper. No one can afford this car in this economy!
I agree , the car needs to lower in price… but I have to say she do look good…… nothing beats American muscle!!!!
