It might not be as impressive as the sub-eight-minute time the 556 horsepower Cadillac CTS-V accomplished, but the 2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport‘s time of 8:14.10 around the 12.9 miles (20.8 km) and 154 turns of the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife is six seconds faster than that of the first-generation CTS-V.
More impressively, the LF3-powered, 420 horsepower CTS Vsport finished just a second slower than the lap time posted by the previous generation BMW M5 — that’s the E60 model with a screaming 500 hp V10. And again, this isn’t even the range-topping model that will be the third-generation CTS-V, which will probably do what the outgoing, second-generation CTS-V did to the competition when it came out… which is to say, crush them.

That is about 8 seconds faster than a Camaro SS.
Any time under 9 min in a production car is great. Any time for a sports car under 8 mins is great just to put this into perspective.
And people say this car is going to be a flop cuz of what they call it!
V sport will do just fine!
No one said it would be a flop.
It is just not going to take advantage of all that it could with a name so similar to a V series.
This car is good enough to have its own name and place with out gloaming on the back of the V Series.
It is kind of like being George Forman’s kid. You know the boxer who names all his kids George. all good kids but they get lost in the family.
You are wrong! Flat out wrong! This car will sell everyone that they make and it won’t sit on the lots very long before it gets spoken for!
You can try to spin it any way you want but this car will be a home run no matter what it’s called!
Again read clearly. I never said this car would fail or flop. Again I never stated it would fail.
I only pointed out that this was a good enough car that I beleive it would do even better with it’s own identity and not have to rely on the V Series association.
Where in that do I say it will fail?
But does it really matter since it already is the V Sport and will remain so.
You my non friend are the spin master here. I think I have made it clear enough even for you to understand this is not a condemation but a point to say that this car is good enought to do even more with it’s own reputation with no help from the V Series.
If it’s good enough to live on it’s own, then why does it matter what it’s called!
That has been one of GM’s issues over the years ….Just being good enough is no longer how you lead the industry.
