Cadillac has brought a new product strategizer aboard, having anointed Richard Brekus as its new Director, Global Product Strategy. Brekus is now a part of the top management team at Cadillac and will be in charge of leading product planning, portfolio planning, and product management across the company’s global regions.
Brekus will also report directly to the moustachioed head honcho himself, Johan de Nysschen.
Like de Nysschen, Brekus also arrives at Cadillac with years of automotive experience under his belt. Prior to his previous position as President of MSP Advisors, Brekus held senior positions in corporate and product strategy, pricing, volume planning, and new car sales during an 18-year stint at BMW of North America. His experience should bode well for the future.
“Richard’s appointment to Cadillac’s management team signals our heightened focus on growing the brand with a balanced product portfolio across our global markets,” de Nysschen said. “I look forward to having him on my team as a strategic partner who will play a key role in continuing our brand transformation.”
It will take years to complete, but it seems Cadillac is beginning to track in the right direction.
Comment
Cadillac has been rebuilding, rebooting and relaunching since the 1980s.
But having said that, this is an example of bringing in an outsider to the established GM culture. Much like the recruitment of Johan this never would have happened at GM a decade ago.
I believe that it is a sign of a healthy corporate culture.
