Some 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Units Need An Image Processing Module Replacement

General Motors has issued a Service Update about a fix available for certain 2024 Chevy Equinox EV units that may need the image processing module replaced.

GM does not specify in Service Update N242470300 what problem is involved with the image processing module, while the number of Chevy Equinox EV units affected is unclear at this time.

The fix should be carried out only by technicians properly trained in EV repair and maintenance. The involvement of a specific 2024 Chevy Equinox EV unit should be verified using the Investigate Vehicle History screen in the GM Global Warranty Management system, where affected units will be marked as “Open.”

Once service personnel have confirmed the Chevy Equinox EV is affected, the repair should be carried out by replacing the image processing module and programming the new module. Because of limited supply of the modules, dealers should only order the component when a replacement is necessary, rather than as shelf stock. The fix is offered free of charge through the end of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period for each Equinox EV.

As a reminder, the 2024 Equinox EV is motivated by an electric drivetrain using GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies for all trim levels. The U.S. variant of the vehicle offers both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. FWD units develop 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque with their single motor, while the twin motors of eAWD units crank out 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque.

Towing capacity for the Chevy Equinox EV is 1,500 pounds (680 kilograms), for all trim levels and drivetrain configurations. Several optional parts must be chosen for the Equinox EV to enable towing, including the dealer-installed $895 Trailer hitch, LPO (RPO code SDE) feature, which then requires the $75 Hitch closeout cover, LPO (RPO code VLG) option.

The 2024 Equinox EV has already been named as a semifinalist for the 2025 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) award, competing against nine other models from various automakers. Seven out of ten rivals for the award are EVs this year, providing the Equinox with stiff competition.

Under the body panels, the Chevy Equinox EV is supported by the GM BEV3 platform. Production for the North American market takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

    1. LOL If you actually do your research you’d realize this module is used for Super Cruise and other ADAS features on all of GM’s vehicles. This isn’t an EV only module.

    2. Diesels are obsolete and badly fueled. Rudolf Diesel specified peanut oil for his engines . Oil magnates ordered petroleum based fuels. Diesel engines should burn only organic oils such as corn, peanut, soy, and sunflower.

      1. Seems funny just the other day you said ppl with EV won’t need to visit dealers, and I brought up research stating that EV are more troublesome than their gas powered counterparts, and that EV owners WILL be visiting dealerships. EV continue to be buggy little buggers.
