Chevy Silverado HD Runs Red Light, Gets T-Boned By Toyota Tacoma: Video

It’s dangerous out there, and you should always keep your head on a swivel when you’re driving. Indeed, staying aware of your surroundings is particularly important when navigating an intersection. As seen countless times before, collisions in an intersection can be disastrous. Now, we’re seeing further evidence of this in a new viral vide, which captures the moment a Chevy Silverado HD runs a red light before it’s T-boned by a Toyota Tacoma.

The incident, captured on a dash cam through a dirty windshield, unfolded at a four-way intersection on September 16th, 2024, around 7:38 a.m. local time.

In the footage, we see an otherwise bright and sunny day, with good visibility and dry pavement. The video starts with the dash cam vehicle approaching an intersection, pulling into a left-turn lane. Some traffic is seen rolling through as vehicles in the perpendicular lanes are stopped at a red light. As the intersection clears, we see one last vehicle speed through, obviously trying to beat the light.

A Chevy Silverado HD approaches an intersection at high speed, moments before colliding with a Toyota Tacoma.

As the light changes, vehicles in the opposing lanes start to roll forward. However, just as a Toyota Tacoma begins to cross the intersection, a speeding Chevy Silverado HD barrels through from the lefthand side of the frame, blowing straight through the red light. In a split second, the Tacoma slams into the side of the Silverado HD.

The impact leaves both vehicles significantly damaged. The front end of the Tacoma is completely smashed, while the side of the Silverado HD is crumpled from the force of the collision.

It’s unclear exactly what went wrong, but it’s possible the driver in the Chevy Silverado HD was distracted and didn’t see the red light. It certainly doesn’t look as though the Silverado driver made any attempt to slow or change direction.

Indeed, even the most durable of trucks aren’t immune to the laws of physics.

  1. So, apparently, GMA wants us to beware of Silverado HD owners! LOL! Rightt.

  2. It amazes me how quickly things can turn. Watching that very short clip made me, once again, realize that one second you can be going about your day and the next your vehicle (and you) are mashed up.

One thing is clearly evident. The Toyota had the green light and no question the other truck was at fault.

    1. Only advantage I see is that the HD was structurally stronger than the Tacoma. But the driver of the HD will BE FINED and probably jailed…

  3. The Silverado driver will be sued hope his insurance is adequate and paid.

  5. Yeah the whole side of the Chevy crumpled like a piece of tin foil. Both trucks are totaled. Totaled front end, Tacoma. Bent Frame and jacked rear drive train, Silverado. The Tacoma got whambozzled by the sheer will of the red means go crowd. That running board on the Chevy added alittle lower bumper action on that poor Tacoma.
Not sure about any advantage there, aside for mass moving at speed into a almost stationary object. Oh my.

  6. It amazes me how people can see an accident and just drive away.
Nobody wants to lend a hand. Sad just plain cowardice.

  7. There was a time I would have stopped to help. Those days are gone because of the stupidity of most people. You don’t know what you will walk into. Idiots somehow became a majority. Not to mention the mentally disturbed. It’s a wild west of morons out there.
