Back in March 2023, GM Authority reported that General Motors was considering the introduction of the GMC Yukon to Australia, and the report was later confirmed when General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) announced that the full-size SUV would soon head to Oceania in 2025. Now, GMSV has announced that testing of the right-hand-drive (RHD) version of the Yukon is well under way in Australia and New Zealand.
GMSV released a series of photos of the RHD 2025 GMC Yukon testing in Australia, clad in heavy camo to conceal the refreshed front and rear ends in store for the forthcoming full-size SUV. In fact, just last week, GM itself released a teaser of the refreshed Yukon, giving a taste of what’s on the horizon for Australia, NZ, and of course, all other markets where the Yukon will be sold.
“The GMC Yukon has been at Premoso for a few months as we start gearing up the remanufacturing process,” said Jess Bala, Managing Director of GM Australia and New Zealand, in a press release. “It’s exciting that another vehicle is joining the GMSV line-up – one that features a full complement of eight seats and offers great towing capability.”
She added, “Vehicle development post-remanufacturing is progressing extremely well and we’re on track to deliver the new model to customers in first half of 2025… Now that the camouflage has come off, we’ll be able to embark on more extensive on-road, local right-hand-drive development and testing.”
At this time, GMSV has not revealed pricing or availability for the Australian- and NZ-spec 2025 GMC Yukon. However, it is worth noting that when it revealed the 2025 GMC Yukon a few months back, the organization only mentioned a V8 gasoline engine, which makes it unlikely that the Duramax 3.0L I6 diesel engine will offered in the Oceanic market.

To me it looks like GM are not doing their market research very good. I live here in Oz and can tell you that Aussies have the same dislike for EVs as the rest of the world. This is clearly shown in the sales of these operated dodgem cars as they fall of a cliff. We have GMSV here bringing products over from the US. Cadillac are reported to be coming over. Guess what? It will only be an EV. What a complete lack of Industry Knowledge from GM. Now they are bringing over the GMC Yukon. We have Chevrolet Silverado’s here already and V8 Supercars here race the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Again NO MARKET INTELLIGENCE has been looked at, as having Chevrolet products making inroads, WHY NOT sell the Chevrolet Tahoe instead of GMC and push and prop up the main selling Brand. So Dumb and a backward move.
Can’t understand why the 3lt duramax diesel isn’t an option I wouldn’t consider petrol as 99% of yutes sold in Australia are diesel same in the Silverado should be offered loosing hundreds of sales
