A pair of suspects is in police custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through two states in a stolen GMC Savana U-Haul van. The chase was terminated following a PIT maneuver that flipped the police vehicle performing the maneuver. Video of the chase shows a harrowing pursuit between the van and a fleet of law enforcement officers.
According to a recent report from the Associated Press, the pursuit occurred Wednesday, February 7th, and began in eastern Oklahoma. The chase reportedly exceeded speeds of 120 mph. The chase ended in Tontitown, Arkansas, roughly 147 miles northwest of Little Rock.
Video of the chase captured by police dash cams show several police vehicles in pursuit of the U-Haul GMC Savana as it weaves through traffic, crossing into oncoming lanes. The video also shows the end of the chase when a police cruiser performs a PIT maneuver and pushes the rear end of the van, causing it the van to spin. The maneuver results in the police cruiser spinning as well, after which it slams into an adjacent barrier before digging in and barrel rolling several times.
According to the AP report, the officer in the cruiser that rolled was treated at a local hospital and released with minor injuries.
Later in the video, we see cruisers slam into the van in an attempt to stop it, triggering the air bags. One officer boxes the van in by stopping their cruiser directly in front of it.
According to the AP report, police recovered several weapons from the GMC Savana van, including two firearms, a machete, and Molotov cocktails. The two passengers are currently held at Benton County jail and face multiple charges, including aggravated assault, fleeing, criminal conspiracy, and possession of destructive devices. Both men as set to appear in court in March.

I’m always amazed at these police chase videos featuring very mundane vehicles like a rental cargo van that can elude police cars, particularly when the police are wheeling a Hemi Charger or EcoBoost Explorer. Guess these U-Haul vans are the 4.3L V6 variant which are pretty pokey. They may not ultimately get away, but the chase always goes on longer than you’d expect.
Those trucks use the 6.6 L V8
No surprise who the bad guys are!
My son is a good boy, but the system failed him.
Like I said, I owned one for 10 years and man, they are TUFF vans. Everything worked on it too including the sliding doors used for 6-day a week delivery and why I said don’t change the way you make it. Improve on it, only! Think a
Transit or RAM Pro could take it? Think again. No criminal wants to be caught in those UGHLEE things.
