General Motors announced that the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax won the crossover won the award during the Asian country’s 2024 Korea Car of the Year Awards ceremony, organized by the Automobile Writers’ Association of Korea (AWAK). Specifically, the new 2024 Trax was selected by a judging panel as the most outstanding vehicle and winner of the “internal combustion engine crossover” category for the calendar year.

AWAK selected the 2024 Chevy Trax as the winner in its class, from a total list of 78 new vehicle models launched in the South Korean market during 2023 as potential candidates. After a thorough selection process, the Trax was among the top three finalists in the “internal combustion engine crossover” category alongside the all-new Peugeot 408 and the BMW M3 Touring – which it ultimately beat.

“The new Chevrolet Trax is a crossover that is gaining worldwide popularity for its unique design and marketability by combining the elegant style of a sedan and the versatility of an SUV,” said Chief Marketing Officer of GM Korea, Myongok Yoon. “The Trax Crossover, which is No. 1 among exported domestic passenger cars, is the best option for customers who are considering their first car or a new lifestyle,” she added.

In particular, the 2024 Chevy Trax has become a huge success for the automaker and its South Korean subsidiary. In fact, the Trax not only ranked first in sales in the crossover category in the domestic market last year, but also ranked first in sales in the entire South Korean passenger car export market by a wide margin.

The strong offering of the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax as the brand’s entry-level crossover in the United States, South Korea and Canada stands out as one of the most attractive options for customers – achieving a high level of acceptance in those countries. Its stylized body with a wide and low stance, as well as its comprehensive list of features, has made it a benchmark in the subcompact crossover segment.

  2. Starting to see more and more of them everyday, everywhere. Too bad they have to come from halfway around the world.

  3. If I want a real Korean car I will buy either a Hyundai or a Kia. GM probably bought this award the same way they did with the Blazer EV, which is still not ready to be sold again. How low will GM go?

    1. OMG first the Trax isn’t a real Chevy because it’s built in a GM plant in South Korea….now it’s not a real Korean car? Holy crap. It’s almost comical if it wasn’t so inane.

  4. I haven’t seen or read a negative review from the automotive press on it yet. Even Savage Geese on YouTube just gave it their stamp if approval. Now if Ford and Stellantis would just follow suit with a quality subcompact crossover if their own.

  5. I love mine. Quiet, rides nice, power is perfectly adequate for the role it plays, spacious (as big as an Equinox inside – headroom is a little less – lots of cargo room, getting about 30mpg coming out of winter, 35mpg when it’s warm outside. This engine has been around since 2019 with no recalls or major issues, I think it’ll last 100K+. My 2013 Sonic LT with the 1.4T has 165K and it’s still going just fine, my daughter bought it from me about 60K miles ago. If you change the oil and perform regular maintenance, just about any car will last 100K miles. “Korean” car, “Japanese” car, “American” car….the lines are so blurred now I don’t think it matters anymore.
