GM Canada has promoted Kristian Aquilina – the former GM Canada Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing – to President and Managing Director of GM Canada.
Effective immediately, Aquilina will report directly to Marissa West, who herself was recently appointed to GM North America Senior Vice President and President. This development comes following recent investments by GM Canada into Canadian manufacturing for an all-electric future.
“It’s an exciting time to step into the role of president and managing director as GM Canada enters 2024 with incredible growth across the entire business,” Aquilina claimed in a prepared statement. “I look forward to collaborating with our employees, our strong network of Canadian dealers and our many other community and industry partners across the country. Together, we’ll unleash even more opportunities for GM Canada to lead during this period of historic transformation.”
For background, Aquilina joined GM Canada in 2023 to serve as the Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service, and Marketing. Under his leadership, GM Canada led the industry in terms of total market share and total over sales over the course of the 2023 calendar year – a first since 2009.
Prior to that venture, Aquilina served as the Managing Director of Cadillac International Operations and Cadillac Middle East. In addition, he has also served as Chair and Managing Director for GM Holden in Australia and New Zealand.
“Our Canadian manufacturing plants are also set to thrive with recent new investments in Oshawa Assembly, St. Catharines Propulsion Plant and CAMI Assembly,” Aquilina continued. “The Canadian Technical Centre continues to be a hotbed of innovation in software, R&D and advanced vehicle testing. We’ve also just begun to tap into the potential for Canada in the emerging raw mineral and EV battery supply chain, beginning with the new Ultium CAM processing facility in Bécancour, Quebec. There’s so much opportunity ahead – and I look forward to all we will achieve together.”

You have horrible customer service and don’t fix your own products
This is an open request to Kristian Aquilina
I currently own a 2019 Blazer that has sustained a broken rear wheel knuckle. I have conversed with every avenue available to me to address the need for a replacement part. The standard reply has been concern for my situation however no part is available in CANADA and no time estimation for a replacement. I find this unfathomable that for a vehicle that has been in production for more that 5 years that a basic critical part is not to be had. From your position can you help to resolve my predicament?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
