Some 2023 Chevy Silverado and 2024 Chevy Silverado units may have non-functional heated seat switch indicator lights, though the seats and switches are actually functional, according to a bulletin published by GM TechLink.
There is no fix for the problem at this point, but GM is working on a solution and further updates are expected to follow.
GM has discovered that in certain Chevy Silverado trucks the indicator lights on the heated seat switch remain unilluminated even when the heated seat function is switched on and working. There are three switch indicator lights, and on vehicles affected by this issue one, two, or all of the indicator lights may be inoperative.
The post describing the issue says that the failure of the lights to come on will make it appear the heated seat function for the front seats is not working. However, in actuality, the switches still function correctly and the front seats will heat up as normal when activated using them.
GM advises its dealerships to tell drivers of 2023 or 2024 Chevy Silverado trucks affected by the inoperative switch lights that the heated seat function is still working. The heated seats are always inactive when the truck is started, but pressing the switch repeatedly will cycle through high, medium, low and off seat heating as usual.
The automaker suspects, but has not yet fully confirmed, that a defect in the Front HVAC User Interface Control for the pickup units is responsible for the unilluminated lights. Dealer service personnel are instructed not to replace the control component because the interface controls currently in stock are from the same batch and will have the same non-illuminated light defect.
The General is currently developing a replacement Front HVAC User Interface Control that will fix the problem when installed. Notably, some 2023 to 2024 GMC Sierra trucks are also affected.
GM will likely issue a service bulletin once the correct replacement part is developed and ready to be installed to resolve the problem.

Wow, they don’t do any QC testing??????
As has been said, there’s too much computerization in new vehicles. They’re just transportation, let’s get back to basics. That’s all some of us want and need. Keep the infotainment and offer an inexpensive basic vehicle for a reduced price. The should do a focus group and see how many people would be interested in a basic stripped down version at a low price. Might be surprised.
they already exist. Get a WT (work truck) trim model.
I think even the new WT’s have a tv screen.
My derriere will tell me when the heat is on, I suppose. At least it works and is not “broken.” No rush to the dealer.
I don’t understand the statement “The heated seats are always inactive when the truck is started’. Mine will come on automatically when temperatures are cold, which I like, and then I can adjust or turn them off myself.
