2024 Chevy Trax 2RS And Activ Have A Key Interior Distinction

The 2024 Chevy Trax introduces the all-new, updated, and improved second generation of GM’s entry-level crossover, offering more space, updated aesthetics, and many features not found in first-gen vehicles.

The Activ and 2RS trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Trax, both designed as range-toppers, are similar in many ways such as price and equipment levels. The most obvious difference between them is in exterior styling, but there’s also an important divergence in cabin features, too.

The Activ trim of the 2024 Chevy Trax offers rugged, outdoorsy styling, while GM gave the 2RS a sleek exterior with eye-catching sporty aesthetic cues. However, on the inside, the Activ also gets an 8-way power driver’s seat (RPO code A2X) with 2-way power lumbar support (RPO code AL9).

Meanwhile, the 2RS, like the rest of the 2024 Chevy Trax trim levels, makes do with a 6-way manual driver’s seat (RPO code A2V) and no power lumbar support.

All 2024 Trax trims, including both the Activ and 2RS, have a 4-way manual front passenger seat along with a 60/40 split rear folding seat. The main interior difference between the trims, besides badging and colorways, is the type of driver’s seat equipped.

GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft has previously given a nearly eight minute-long tour of the new interior of the 2024 Chevy Trax. Some highlights include sturdy, rounds vents with positive closure, new styling, and the use of thematic colors for the trim’s upholstery and other cabin details.

The crossover also features an 11-inch diagonal infotainment screen as standard on the Activ, 2RS, and LT trim levels, while the LS and 1RS trims make do with a standard 8-inch screen.

As a reminder, the fully redesigned 2024 Chevy Trax draws standard motivation from the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, developing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the front wheels via the GM six-speed automatic transmission.

Under the body panels, structure is provided for all trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Trax by the GM VSS-F vehicle set. Production takes place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea. The first shipment of the new Trax generation headed for the U.S. in March 2023.

  1. I was doing research for my sister who may want a new Trax, I find that odd they did not put the power driver seat with lumbar in 2RS. Would certainly be a feature I would expect since its in the same price bracket as the Activ. Hopefully they add that for the next model year.

  3. They can pay attention to frilly things like stitching and whatnot but fail with other things like a rear seat armrest or rear air vents or a power seat. gm you are pathetic sometimes. No AWD as well when a lot of competition has it.

    1. A lot of the competition doesn’t have AWD either, that’s who they’re competing against. This keeps the costs down. Starting price would not be as low as it is if they threw in everything then we’d complain about the price. AWD is overrated.

      1. You clearly don’t live in a state that has winters, AWD is a huge selling point in the midwest, for example.

        1. Yes, I live in Iowa, have for 40 years and I’ve never, ever needed AWD…..but boy have the manufacturers convinced us we need it.

  4. No fold forward front passenger seat. No AwD.

Also a foot longer. Domestic car companies always making vehicles bigger, like 1970 Thunder Birds.

  5. A power seat should at least be offered as an option on LT and 2RS. Also they really should include a rear seat armrest on the top 2RS and Active trims.

  6. If they think this makes up for a missing small car in the line up they are out of their minds.

  7. I tried one of these last week. Absolute non-starter for me due to the crap seats. Narrow and short seat cushions with not enough seat travel for a 6’+ guy. Also so much elbow bruising hard plastic. A real shame as it looks good.
