Redesigned 2024 Ford Ranger Debuts As Colorado And Canyon Rival: Video

Ford just pulled the sheets on the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger, set to rival the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon in the midsize pickup truck segment. The next-gen Ford Ranger features revised styling, new tech features, and the new Ford Ranger Raptor, a high-performance off-road variant.

The new styling starts with unique front-end treatments depending on the trim level selected, as well Ford’s C-clamp signature headlights.

In terms of practicality, there is an available Integrated Box Side Step, fold-flat rear seats, and expanded width between the wheel wells to accommodate items up to 4-feet wide. The wheelbase and track were both extended by 2 inches for added bed space and stability. Ground clearance, approach angles, and departure angles are all improved compared to the preceding model.

Under the hood, you’ll find a standard 2.3L EcoBoost engine, with output rated at 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The 2024 Ford Ranger is also offered with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the same engine found under the hood of the Ford F-150 and Ford Bronco, with output rated at 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. All models are equipped as standard with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

New driver assist technologies for both on-road and off-road are onboard as well, with advanced towing tech including Pro Trailer Backup assist and integrated trailer brake controller with 360-degree camera. The infotainment spec includes a standard 8-inch instrument cluster and available 12.4-inch instrument cluster, as well as a standard 10.1-inch central screen and available 12-inch screen.

Meanwhile, performance enthusiasts can step up to the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, which features 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks, a reinforced frame, 33-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch wheels, extensive underbody protection, and a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 producing 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

Orders for the 2024 Ford Ranger open up later this month, with availability late in the summer, and late in the fall for model’s equipped with the 2.7L engine. Pricing starts at $34,160, while the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor will start at $56,960, including $1,595 for destination and delivery.

  1. So crew short bed only?

They did get the folding flat seat they lacked but GM dropped theirs?

Same 10 speed they have had issues with?

Reinforced frame? So the standard truck gets a weaker frame?

    V6 TT $$$$?

    Still lots of questions here.

    1. One size fits all mentality grows. Saw headline that Ford is bringing back the Ranchero? What is that going to be like?

  2. So Ranger has little bit more power
Raptor vs ATX4 canyon both at 58k price
Curious what the bison is going be priced now ..
no shocker on the bed . No more tremor.. sad.
34k for 4×4 Xl vs 35k WT for same amount HP .

  3. Not one size fits all mentality. It is one size fits all economics.

The profits are limited in this segment. These trucks cast nearly as much as a full size but make less money due to smaller volumes and few shared parts with other models. Ford at least shares the Bronco.

    1. Pretty true . Except for Toyota they get their truck sales mainly off the Tacoma .. only outlier . I except Toyota up their game on numbers etc

    1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this is better looking than the Canyon…

  5. Compared to GM and the Toyota Taco leaks, this is a swing and miss on Ford. Styling is lack luster, features are so so but maybe the Raptor variant will pull some weight. At least they’re offering the 2.7 V6, which should be the only engine offered because that 2.3 is a lame duck in these mid truck/SUV market.

  7. honestly not bad. seems competitive. at the same time, while ford has the power i think gm has the capability with the 24′ bison aev. 35s on a midsize is still crazy to me (in a good way).

  9. And like all Ford new model releases, it’ll take 2-3 years to work out on the new bugs.

Over /under for number of recalls for the new Ranger? LOL

  10. This doesn’t look like a Raptor at all looks more like a Republican. If you’re offended maybe you’re boring too.

  11. Some good and some not so good. Offering a V6 might attract some customers and its nice to see body color door handles and mirrors and decent looking wheels as opposed to all the cheap black plastic used on so many competitors, even on higher trim price points. The std 2.3 also makes more power and torque compared to the Colorado WT and LT base 2.7 and more HP with the V6 but less torque so it will be interesting to see how this compares to the higher torque GM 2.7 tied to the 8 speed. Hopefully Ford didn’t make the same mistake as GM only offering one bed and one cab configuration but it’s not looking good on that front.

  14. I traded in a 2019 Ranger Lariat fully loaded for my 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 and there is no comparison between the two trucks. The New Canyon is twice the truck the ranger was and makes the ranger feel like a toy.

  15. Not bad. Wasn’t expecting to see the base 2.7 EB from the F150 make it in there, that was unexpected. Sounds heavy for a midsize so Colorado/Canyon with the HO should perform a bit quicker here. Its only down 5hp but up 30tq over that 2.7 EB.

I like the changes to the front, but I’m disappointed in the lack of cab changes. GM made a new cab for their 2023s, Ford is still using the same cab as the current Ranger. Big tall infotainment screen is blah but the dash design is good.

That said? GM twins and the new Taco are going to be the superior trucks here, especially if the Taco gains hybridization.

  16. Not impressed. It’s not bad, but this is what I would have wanted in 2019 when the brought over the foreign market ranger. It catches up to the new Colorado/canyon, but I still would rather have the GM trucks over this. Don’t want to diss a good truck, but ford pulled a Toyota

  17. I’ve never owned a Ford vehicle. This won’t do anything to change my mind. Driving a Canyon now. Had a Sierra previously.
