GM has released a service update for certain units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD due to the access hole cover of the torque converter housing not being installed. The access hole cover is also referred to as the inspection port dust cover.
This service update and the problem it describes also affect certain units of the 2023 GMC Sierra HD.
The problem:Â the access hole cover, or inspection port dust cover, was not installed on some 2023 Chevy Silverado HD truck torque converter housings during production.
The fix:Â GM certified technicians are instructed to install the correct access hole cover on the torque converter housing of affected 2023 Chevy Silverado HD trucks. Because of the very small number of vehicles affected, dealerships are advised not to order the necessary part until they have confirmed an installation of the missing part is needed on a customer’s vehicle or vehicle in inventory.
The vehicle needs to be lifted in order to complete the fix. The actual installation of the part requires approximately 12 minutes of labor.
Affected vehicles may still be in dealer inventory or may have been sold to customers. The bulletin expires at the end of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period for affected Chevy Silverado HD pickups.

Number of affected vehicles:Â GM estimates a total of eight 2023 Chevy Silverado HDs and 2023 GMC Sierra HDs are affected by this service update.

More QC problems. Not a huge deal but keeps the road grime and salt away from the torque converter nuts and drain plug, if it’s the same set up of years ago when I worked on these machines.
