Nearly two years after launching the refreshed international midsize pickup in Ecuador, General Motors has just added two new variants to the 2022 Chevy Colorado lineup in the South American country.
The automaker expanded the 2022 Chevy Colorado range in Ecuador by launching the Z71 and LTZ variants, as until now, the pickup was sold in the Ecuadorian market in the base LT and range-topping High Country finishes. As such, the 2022 Colorado lineup in that country now consists of four grades that are better suited to the preferences of each customer profile.
“This truck has evolved over time. Now incorporating these two new versions into our portfolio, aligned with our regional launches, to offer customers more and better features,” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager in Ecuador, Oswaldo León, in a statement. “Chevrolet Colorado is designed for a customer with style, in constant search of safety, comfort and design,” he added.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 stands out as the most striking addition to the beefed-up lineup, thanks to its unique exterior appearance and off-road-specific equipment such as fender flares, black tubular side steps, a sport bar and a specific set of wheels and tires. In addition, it includes an overall darkened finish and distinctive stickers around the bodywork.
Mechanically, the new 2022 Chevy Colorado variants in Ecuador maintain the same powertrain as the rest of the range, consisting of the Duramax turbo-diesel 2.8L I4 XLD28 engine that generates 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Like the existing trim levels, the 2022 Colorado Z71 and LTZ come standard with 4WD.
The two new mid-level variants of the 2022 Chevy Colorado are now available for sale at the official dealer network in Ecuador, where units continue to arrive from GM’s São José dos Campos plant in Brazil – the only facility currently manufacturing the Colorado /S10 for the international market. Both have generous technology and security equipment. These are the prices of the 2022 Colorado in Ecuador:
- Chevy Colorado LT: $46,999 USD (the country’s official currency)
- Chevy Colorado Z71: $49,990 USD
- Chevy Colorado LTZ: $51,990 USD
- Chevy Colorado High Country: $53,999 USD
