Refreshed 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Launches In Ecuador

General Motors has just released the refreshed international-market 2021 Chevrolet Colorado in Ecuador, after the model made its official debut as the Chevrolet S10 at the end of July in Brazil – which is the only country that currently produces this version. As such, the Ecuadorian market becomes the first to receive the updated model among all Latin American countries where the midsize pickup truck is sold as the Colorado.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado High Country

The Chevrolet S10/Colorado built at the São José dos Campos plant is the best-selling midsize pickup in South America, with a solid 25-year history and more than one million units produced so far. Notably, this is the first time that the iconic model is offered in Ecuador, where it will expand the Bow Tie brand’s pickup lineup and be positioned above the popular Chevrolet D-Max that is assembled locally at the GM OBB plant.

“This truck has a 25-year manufacturing history, during which it has evolved, incorporating bigger and better features,” said Commercial Manager of Chevrolet Ecuador, Alejandro Jaramillo, in a statement, “Given the significance of this truck for the South American market today, we are bringing a winning vehicle into our country, designed for customers looking for style and new comfort features,” he added.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado LT

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is launched in the Ecuadorian market in Crew Cab configuration as well as in LT and High Country trim levels, which stand out for offering the best power, technology and safety in their class in Ecuador. Available features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Front automatic braking, six airbags and Lane Keep Assist.

Both trim levels of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado come standard with 4WD and are equipped with the Duramax turbo-diesel 2.8L XLD28 four-cylinder engine, which develops a class-leading 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The LT variant is only offered with a six-speed manual transmission, while the range-topping High Country features a six-speed automatic.

Additionally, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado raises the bar in the Ecuadorian market by introducing the latest connectivity technologies for the first time in the pickup segment. The signature technology package includes the most recent iteration of the Chevrolet Infotainment System, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, wireless phone charging and the latest generation of OnStar with an on-board Wi-Fi hotspot.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is now on sale in Ecuador, backed by a generous five-year/100,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first) and a choice of six paint colors: Blue, Black, White, Gray, Silver and Red Wine. During the 2021 calendar year, the international-market Colorado will be introduced in Colombia, Chile, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Honduras. The midsize pickup is only sold as the S10 in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Pricing for Ecuador is as follows:

  • 2021 Chevrolet Colorado LT: $46,999 USD (the country’s official currency)
  • 2021 Chevrolet Colorado High Country: $49,999 USD

  3. Don’t like the sloped/rounded front ends on various truck of late, not just GM.

  4. I don’t see much difference in this new model than the current high end D max that has been sold in the country for years. Most vehicles sold are still manual transmission in Ecuador. A 50,000 Dollar price tag will attract a smaller segment of the truck market. Toyota Hilux is in direct competition with Chevy and makes a better vehicle with a stronger resale value.
