The 2022 Buick Enclave will have limited availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5). The limited availability is due to the ongoing global microchip shortage.
Previously, the 2022 Buick Enclave was equipped as standard with Front and Rear Park Assist across all trim levels. However, in an effort to reduce the number of microchips required for each unit produced, General Motors is reducing the availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature. Affected units include those produced on or after December 20th. Note that only some units are affected, not all of them.
As GM Authority covered previously, several other GM vehicles are affected by reduced availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature, as well as the Rear Park Assist feature. This includes GM’s three other U.S. brands – Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC. Check out GM Authority’s previous coverage for more information on which vehicles and trim levels are affected.
The reduced availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature and Rear Park Assist feature follows reduced availability of heated seats, ventilated seats, and heated steering wheels for a broad range of GM vehicles. Like the reduced availability of the two parking features, the reduced availability of heated seats, ventilated seats, and heated steering wheels is part of an effort to reduce the number of microchips used per unit produced.
Later, General Motors announced that vehicles affected by the reduced availability of heated seats, ventilated seats, and heated steering wheels would be eligible for retrofitting of these features in the future at no cost to the customer. At this point, it’s uncertain if GM vehicles affected by reduced availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature and Rear Park Assist feature will also be eligible for a retrofit, or if customers will receive a credit for purchasing affected units.
As a reminder, the Buick Enclave was refreshed for the 2022 model year, and features the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Under the body panels, the Buick Enclave rides on the C1 platform. Production for North America takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township facility in Michigan.
