Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Q3 2024 Buick Enclave sales saw the Tri-Shield brand’s flagship crossover fall a couple of places from the previous quarter to take seventh when ranked by sales volume among nine entries in the premium three-row crossover segment.

The Acura MDX remained at the top, like it has for some time now, in spite of a 14 percent dip to 11,151 units. The Volvo XC90 (see running Volvo XC90 sales) placed second with a 19 percent slide to 8,636 units, followed by the Infiniti QX60 in third with an eight percent slip to 8,636 units. The Genesis GV80 took fourth as sales rose 26 percent for 6,711 deliveries, while the Audi Q7 (see running Audi Q7 sales) placed fifth with a 31 percent drop to 5,658 units. Buick’s crosstown rival Lincoln Aviator (see running Lincoln Aviator sales) took sixth with a 279 percent leap to 5,543 units, followed by the Enclave (see running Buick Enclave sales) with a 51 downturn to 5,161, and the Cadillac XT6 (see running Cadillac XT6 sales), the Enclave’s corporate cousin, with a six percent bump to 4,342 units. Previously in second place, the first-ever Lexus TX fell to the bottom with no deliveries this quarter thanks to a stop-sale order and production shutdown over the summer due to a recall involving a faulty driver’s side curtain airbag.

Combining GM’s two crossovers in this space, the Buick Enclave and Cadillac XT6, puts The General into second place overall with a cumulative 9,503 deliveries for an 18 percent segment share.

The premium three-row crossover segment contracted 11 percent to 54,143 units during Q3 2024, meaning Enclave sales significantly underperformed the segment average.

The GM Authority Take

Buick Enclave sales slipped yet again this quarter as the model continues to undergo a generational changeover for the 2025 model year. Even so, combining sales of the Enclave with those of the Cadillac XT6 put GM in second place this time around.

Looking ahead, we expect Enclave volume to recover into the green during the first quarter of 2025. When that happens, Toyota Motor Company will likely resolve the issue that caused the stoppage in sales and production of the Lexus TX, at which point the model will present a formidable rival to the Enclave and the XT6.

About Buick Enclave

The all-new 2025 Buick Enclave arrives with a restyled exterior that continues the tradition of unique Avenir trim level taillights, while LED lighting is found front and rear.

The third generation of the premium three-row, full-size crossover also boasts larger dimensions, an overhauled cabin, and a 30-inch ultra-wide infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a plethora of safety tech, such as Blind Zone Steering Assist, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Departure Warning, and more.

The 2025 Enclave is the first Buick to offer Super Cruise, GM’s semi-autonomous driver assist system. Super Cruise is available across the 2025 Enclave lineup.

The 2025 Buick Enclave again offers three trim levels, but with notable changes to the lineup. Joining the carry-over range-topping Avenir variant is a new base model Preferred trim and the nameplate’s first-ever Sport Touring (ST) trim, replacing what was previously offered as a package on the dropped Essence and Premium trims.

The Preferred is equipped with an AutoSense power liftgate, heated front-row seats, noise cancellation, and 20-inch wheels; the ST offers a 12-speaker audio system, unique interior trim, unique badging, and a unique grille; and the Avenir is equipped with a 16-speaker audio system, 22-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, and a standard Head-Up Display (HUD).

The new sole powertrain for the next-gen 2025 Enclave is the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Here’s why the 2025 Enclave uses the 2.5L turbo engine instead of a V6. The GM eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, and the GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings. Check out the fuel economy ratings and how much it can tow.

Here are all the 2025 Enclave paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels.

  1. They did a poor job on redesigning this vehicle. The front end is too audacious and Barra’s cost cutting shows with the door sharing with the Traverse. Past Enclaves were graceful, beautiful vehicles, but this reiteration has no consistency in its design.

  2. Spent an hour hanging out at the dealership during a service call. The bigger the Buick, the more forced the Wildcat nose looks. On the Enclave, it’s a mess. The Acadia next to it looked like a luxe truck. The Enclave, more like a beached whale.

  3. Duh……………The Consuming Public does not want a 2.5 – 4 Cyl Engine. Look at Acadia Sales down 43% through Q#3 of 2024. Offer the 3.6 as Option and watch the Sales Grow!! Wake up GM Leadership before it is to LATE. You Also can not Cram Electric Cadillacs Down everybody’s Throat. The Consumer Dollars will find their way to Competitive Brands…..

  4. I was going to buy another Traverse for my wife until I found out the 2024s only had 4 cyl. turbos. Ford got my business for the first time ever. Now she’s driving in an Explorer.

  5. I agree with Ronald , offer the 3.6 not everyone wants a turbo engine, just more things that could go wrong and be very costly.

  7. The styling on this is utterly generic and forgettable. It has none of the shapeliness of previous Enclaves. It’s like Buick’s version of all the current Honda crossovers. Yawn city.
