The Chevy Equinox crossover has been named Parents Magazine’s list of the Best Family Cars for 2021.
This year’s edition of Parents Magazine’s annual Best Family Cars Awards includes a selection of 24 new model vehicles from a variety of vehicle segments. The publication says its panel of experts tested over 50 new model year vehicles during judging for the awards and only considered those vehicles that have the highest safety ratings for their respective segments.
The Chevy Equinox won the ‘Best Steering System’ award from Parents Magazine and was judged in the ‘Two Row SUVs’ category. Jurors praised the Equinox for its driving performance and handling characteristics, saying the crossover’s turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine “steps up for the times you need to accelerate quickly,” and that the vehicle “steers well, leaving you feeling in control.”
Parents Magazine also liked the simple-to-use Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children system (LATCH) in the Equinox, which makes strapping little ones into the backseat of the vehicle a breeze.
“You won’t have to search for the lower anchors and tethers—they’re more obvious on the Equinox than on many other vehicles,” the publication’s experts said.
Other award winners in the Two Row SUVs class included the Nissan Rogue (Best Redesign), Subaru Forester (Best for Road Trips), Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid (Best Hybrid), Mustang Mach-E (Best Electric), Buick Envision (Best Quiet Ride) and Toyota Venza (Best Eco Tech).
“The way we think about, shop for, and use cars has drastically changed in the past year,” said editor in chief of Parents Magazine, Julia Edelstein. “Our cars have become multifunctional safe spaces and sanctuaries that act as a home away from home, a retreat, a curbside pickup companion, and sometimes even an office. With safety at the top of mind, this year’s list adapts to your family needs for years to come.”

The same SUV is on their list but only in that sand dune color.
If people like the Chevy equinox imangine how much more they like it if it had the 2.0 l engine
My wife and I have two Chevy Equinoxes. Mine is a base 2019 Premier 1.5 Turbo and my wife has a 2020 Premier with the 2.0 Turbo and all the options. Both are great vehicles. My 2019 with the 1.5 Turbo has sufficient power and good gas mileage. The 2020 is fun to drive but the mileage is just O.K. considering the power it has. In addition, I find that the 2.0 with the larger wheels does not ride as well as my 1.5 Turbo. I’m not happy with using premium fuel but in our case we only drive the 2.0 maybe 5K miles per year. Chevy needs to do a 2.0 that runs on regular that has about 210 horsepower. In all, the Equinox is a great vehicle.
My Terrain has the 2.0 and it run very well, plenty of power, room for a family of 4. To save on gas price I use half E-15 and half premium. DIY oil change is easy. For a 3 year old auto it has been a good choice
Yes the GMC Terrain is a nice vehicle and I’m still hoping and praying the new refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain will come with a option of a 2.0 l engine being the 1.5 is the standard engine coming in all the trim line including the Denali . Well I keep my fingers crossed !
