General Motors has announced it will offer Uber drivers special pricing on new 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV purchases and GM EV charging accessories.
This latest discount includes the same price reduction on the purchase of a new Chevrolet Bolt EV as that enjoyed by General Motors employees, as well as 20 percent below MSRP on Bolt EV accessories like at-home charging equipment. What’s more, well-qualified drivers in Denver and Los Angeles with Uber Diamond-tier status will be eligible for special financing through GM Financial.
Eligible customers must be a resident of the U.S. or Canada, as well as an active Uber driver to receive the one-time discount. Customers must take delivery by January 4th, 2021, to receive the discount.
“Through this program we’re offering new ways for drivers and customers across the country to fall in love with driving electric,” said vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, Steve Majoros. “This is a key opportunity to grow Chevrolet’s EV business through a program that matches our expertise and strength with a ride share platform that brings its own scale and reach.”
General Motors states that the Chevrolet Bolt EV offers numerous benefits to ride share drivers, citing data which indicates significant savings with regard to maintenance costs when compared to a traditional internal combustion vehicle. What’s more, GM says that drivers cite in-vehicle technology and generous passenger room as further benefits for driving a GM EV.
The Chevrolet Bolt is currently the only GM EV on the market. However, the automaker is quickly ramping up its all-electric vehicle offerings with a plethora of new models just over the horizon, including the Cadillac Lyriq crossover and GMC Hummer pickup truck. It’s unclear at this time if this special pricing for ride share drivers will be extended beyond the Chevrolet Bolt in the future.
As a reminder, General Motors plans to release 20 new GM EV models by 2023, many of which will utilize the automaker’s new Ultium battery technology unveiled earlier this year.

ZERO emissions is such a false statement. The power plant that supplied the electric to charge the battery is pumping out more emissions because of these vehicles.
The subtitle reads “Ride sharing with zero local emissions.” Which is true. As for the second sentence in your comment, it depends completely on where you get your power. The availability of renewable energy (especially with regard to EVs) is expanding daily.
It was reported that Uber wants to switch to an all-electric fleet by 2030 and discounts like this will encourage Uber drivers to switch to a Chevrolet Bolt.
How does a Diamond Uber Driver get the discount?
So as long as the power plant emissions aren’t local, it’s Zero. Ah ha!
EV Models? GM has discontinued the EV1, Volt Gen 1, Volt Gen 2, Spark EV, as well as Caddys ELR and CT6-plug-in… The BOLT EV is it.
