Prepare yourself, dear reader, because we have yet another custom, home-built project car for ‘ya. This one is based on the third-generation 1986 Chevrolet Camaro, and is designed to look like a Ferrari Testarossa. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the “Camarossa.”
Listed for sale on Facebook marketplace, this Chevrolet Camaro is a completely bespoke affair, with unique bodywork that pays tribute to the famous mid-engine Prancing Horse exotic. Although the Facebook ad doesn’t provide much info, we did manage to dig up a few specs courtesy of a previous listing on Sunset Classics.
Apparently, this thing was created by a metalsmith over a three-year period, with practically every single body panel customized to give it some Italian flavor. The hood was lengthened, the fenders were reshaped, and the front end and grille are new as well.
The profile view is perhaps the most dramatic view, with this ’86 Chevrolet Camaro now equipped with the characteristic Testarossa side intake slats. There’s also a custom set of polished five-spoke wheels, and new sideview mirrors as well.
The Chevrolet Camaro’s rear end is now broader and flatter, with widened fenders adding to the sporty appeal. Custom glass provides a view behind, while the rear trunk area was flattened and now comes with black vents. The factory Camaro tail lamps were retained, but now come with a special grille covering. Finishing it off is exhaust center treatment that takes after the Ferrari F40.
Naturally, a slew of performance parts were also added, including new suspension bits with lowering springs, new shocks, new trailing arms, and slotted / cross-drilled brake rotors. Meanwhile, the V8 engine was upgraded with new pistons, rings, and heads. There’s also a Holley Street Avenger carburetor and Holley fuel pump, plus Summit Racing headers. According to the Sunset Classics ad, the combo supposedly doles out nearly 500 horsepower.
The interior matches the Testarossa theme with tan leather upholstery and a gated shifter for the five-speed manual transmission.
Now, the 1986 Chevrolet Camaro “Camarossa” is listed for sale via Facebook Marketplace in Abilene, Texas, for $14,500.

Honestly looks really good! The cerwin vegas are also nice too! That redline might be deceiving if the engine is a basic pushrod engine, one would have to be very careful when driving that!
If “Camaro” means comrade or companion, and “Rossa” means red or pink in Italian, then this is a “red companion”.
I can’t even…………………….
If you are craving for attention from people laughing at you…
It keeps looking to me like 2 different cars joined at the A-pillar.
Not my cup of tea, but I give credos to the well-executed effort. Kind of a rod-mod that came together with just the right touches. Restomod?
