Last week, GM Authority was first to report that GM’s official leveling kit became available for the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. At the time of that report, the kit was only available for the Colorado, and not for its corporate cousin – the GMC Canyon, despite the two vehicles sharing chassis and suspension systems (with the exception of the Colorado ZR2). Today, we’re back to report that the OEM leveling kit has now become available for the GMC Canyon.
Benefits
The GMC Canyon leveling kit carries several benefits, the biggest of which is an increase in front ride height by up to one inch to deliver a level vehicle stance and provide a greater approach angle for increased clearance over off-road obstacles. It also enables the use of popular off-road tire combinations.
Specs
Assigned GM part number 84608728, the GMC Canyon leveling kit “utilizes a unique upper and lower spacer design to maintain optimal suspension geometry,” according to information distributed to dealers seen by GM Authority.
The kit includes front upper spacers, lower spacers and low profile nuts. It is constructed of e-coated steel for the upper spacer and polyurethane for the lower spacer.
Availability
The GMC Canyon leveling kit is a direct bolt-on application for 2015 and newer GMC Canyon models and does not void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
The kit is available in conjunction with all Canyon models and trim levels, except for 2WD models or vehicles with 20-inch wheels.
The kit is also available for the Chevrolet Colorado. See details here: Chevy Colorado leveling kit.
Checks performed by GM Authority at time of publication show that the kit is available to order through GMC dealers around the country. Time to delivery is about a week, depending on the proximity of the dealer to a GM distribution center.
Pricing
The 1-inch front leveling kit is priced at $150.
Warranty
There are several aftermarket leveling kits currently available for the Canyon. But while installation of those kits could void the truck’s new vehicle warranty or the warranty of the particular component(s) being modified, this GM/GMC OEM kit does not void any warranties. It carries the greater of either the balance of the vehicle’s bumper to bumper warranty or 12 months / 12,000 miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s are some common questions about the GMC Canyon leveling kit.
Q: What are the benefits of a leveling kit?
A: A leveling kit increases front ride height, leveling the vehicle’s stance and providing a greater approach angle for increased clearance over off-road obstacles.
Q: What equipment is required installation?
A: This kit will require the use of a spring compressor or it can be installed at your local dealership.
Q: What are the benefits of an upper and lower spacer design compared to a single spacer design of a comparable lift?
A: A single spacer design of similar lift may cause your ball joints to wear out prematurely in this application. The upper and lower spacers are designed to maintain optimal suspension geometry.
Q: Will installing this suspension leveling kit void my New Vehicle Warranty?
A: No, because it uses a unique upper and lower spacer design, it does not void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Q: Is an alignment required after installation?
A: The alignment should be checked by a dealer and adjusted if necessary.
GM is currently working on developing an all-new, next-gen GMC Canyon, and we expect that model to land for the 2023 model year.

Most asked questions are beat is different than the Chevy to require a new part number.
Also what about 20” wheels is the problem to prevent this from working.
Same part number for Colorado and Canyon. Also curious to know what about the 20-inch wheels… though I’m guessing it’s something about that size that will cause the wheel (not the tire) to rub or touch… just a wild guess…
MY hunch is the lower spacer may hit the wheel or tire?
Why is it not available for 2wd? Will it ever be made available for 2wd?
Instead of raising the front, lower the rear.
If your goal is to use your truck for off-roading or overlanding by putting larger tires on it, that solution won’t really work.
We’re senior citizens and use the Canyon for a daily vehicle, no off road. We’d like to lower the rear to ease the enter and exit of the vehicle. Does anyone offer a rear lowering kit for a 2021 Canyon 2wd?
Any spring shop can re arch your rear leaf springs
Do you need to adjust the headlights after install?
Yes! Not difficult.
That is why so many lifted Trucks and Jeeps blind you on the roads. They fail to adjust.
I mastered more something totally new on this losing weight issue. 1 issue is that good nutrition is tremendously vital whenever dieting. An enormous reduction in junk food, sugary meals, fried foods, sweet foods, red meat, and whitened flour products could possibly be necessary. Holding wastes bloodsuckers, and toxic compounds may prevent desired goals for losing fat. While selected drugs momentarily solve the situation, the bad side effects aren’t worth it, they usually never present more than a short-term solution. It can be a known proven fact that 95 of fad diet plans fail. Many thanks sharing your opinions on this web site.
Will in be available for 2WD? I’m in Southern California by the beach and don’t off-road. The ass end looks silly sticking up!!
Any chance this will fit a second generation Acadia (2019)? Or that there is a similar kit for it? There’s a Rough Country option, but it’s 1 1/2″ which is a bit too much.
I’d actually prefer a lower rear, but can’t imagine GM offers optional rear springs.
