2020 Chevrolet Corvette Owner Drops The Muffler, Makes V8 Thunder: Video

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is in full-fledged serial production, with freshly finished examples now rolling out for deliveries. Understandably, owners are so excited, they can’t wait to post about all the fun they’re having with their new sports car. One owner in particular was so eager to max theirs, they immediately strapped it to a dyno! Now, we’re getting an earful of the naturally aspirated 6.2L LT2 V8, minus the mufflers, all thanks to a recent post from YouTube user Street Speed 717.

The video is pretty long, clocking in at 22 minutes, 10 seconds, but there’s still a lot of GM goodness to be had before we get to hear the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette breathe free. The host kicks things off with an unboxing on a new lift kit for his 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. After struggling to move the pallet holding the parts, the host finally lifts the top to check out what’s underneath. After looking over the various bits and pieces, the host takes a ride in the Silvy and gives a run down on future plans for the truck.

We finally get a look at a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 around the seven-minute, 20-second mark, but we don’t get up close until around the nine-minute mark, at which point the host does a nice walk around on it. This particular model is for another customer and will, presumably, drive away with its muffler intact.

There’s some more waiting before we get to the muffler stuff as the host takes a drive in some “other” muscle machine, but by the 15-minute mark, we’re back in the saddle with the C8, where the mechanics are already tearing off the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette’s muffler. It’s interesting to see the rear of the new C8 without all the rear body work, as well as what’s involved in dropping the muffler on the mid-engine monster. With the muffler off, they start it up, and well, the results speak for themselves.

    I smell jealousy!

EVERY car that come off the assembly line is a COMPROMISE.
Make the car the way YOU want it, it’s called personalizing.
If you want your moms old ironing board on the rear deck for a spoiler, so be it.

  5. This was outstanding. So cool to see guys taking their brand new Corvette apart; remove the muffler with its “quad” exists. And then run he car to hear the deep rumble. Actually the stock Corvette muffler sounds about as good, but I’m listening on a computer with no bose system on it. The key is to develop a pipe that has additional scavenging power without interference in such a short distance. I wonder if the bends in a longer run would create additional problems; probably require 3, 3.5 or 4 inch sections to bring a spaghetti system to suck the gasses out.
