A familiar face to General Motors has a new top position at seating supplier Ardient. Former GM CEO Frederick “Fritz” Henderson was named interim CEO of Ardient on Monday, Automotive News reported.
Henderson took control of GM in March 2009 and succeeded Rick Wagoner. Wagoner stepped down as CEO of the U.S. automaker at the request of the Obama administration as the automaker navigated the 2008 financial crisis and bankruptcy. Wagoner’s exit earned GM additional short-term funding from the U.S. government.
Henderson resigned the CEO position at GM in December 2009 after helping to guide the automaker through its government-led bankruptcy. His exit paved the way for Ed Whitacre to take over in January 2010 ahead of a permanent CEO replacement. Ultimately, that job went to Mary Barra.
At Ardient, Henderson will serve as interim CEO and succeeds R. Bruce McDonald, who is stepping down from his role as chairman and CEO effective immediately.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Fritz kinda resembles Red from “That 70’s Show” in this picture?
It was most unfortunate that Fritz Henderson was pressured to leave GM. His replacement Ed Whitacre hadn’t a clue what was going on and his book aptly validated this view. Fritz’s problem was that his new government appointed board failed to grasp much of the information he was feeding them, it flew right over their heads.
