Take A Stroll Back Through Time With These Vintage Detroit Auto Show Photos: Video

Next week kicks off the 2018 North American International Auto Show, or more colloquially known as the Detroit Auto Show. Ahead of the big event, MLive put together a slideshow of historic photos from the show’s past.

We weren’t there, but it’s pretty incredible to see the show floor from thirty and forty years ago. The stands were filled with more primitive displays, futuristic concept cars, and some pretty bad haircuts. We spy numerous General Motors brands’ concepts on the stands including the Pontiac Trans Sport, Corvette Indy concept, and many more. It’s also incredible to see some obscure cars by today’s standards in fresh paint and sparkling under the lights.

One stark contrast from the past and present? The types of cars on display. This year looks poised to be full of pickup trucks as the market continues to shift from passenger cars. From General Motors, we’ll see the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado in all its glory.

Perhaps one day we’ll look back at 2018 photos and smirk at the massive utility vehicles on display. Check out the photos in the video up above.
