Holden will do its best to stockpile locally-built Commodores ahead of the 2018 ZB Commodore’s launch in February next year, but they’re moving quickly. And now, one last batch of freshly built VF Commodores has left the Elizabeth assembly plant.
The brand confirmed to Wheels on Monday the final Commodores for sale were loaded onto multiple transport trucks and will make their way to dealerships. The last Commodore built rolled off the assembly line on October 20, but these final cars represent the last chance for potential owners to snag one before they’re truly gone.
“We expect these to sell by mid-January so we’d encourage anyone interested to get along to your local dealership,” a Holden spokeswoman said.
Earlier this month, we reported the final Australian-built Commodores are selling at a rapid pace and the nameplate very well could sell out during the month of December. A previous report cited around 2,500 VF Commodores left for sale; Holden sold 2,418 Commodores alone last October.

Earlier this month I was helping my partner find a second hand car. Along the way we stopped at three separate Holden dealerships in Perth. All three had special edition Director, Motorsport, Magnum edition Commodores or some combination of the three in stock and waiting for a buyer. You know those rare final special edition Commodores that Holden made earlier this year that were in hot demand?
Of course the dealerships aren’t selling them because they were putting their own ridiculous mark ups on them. I spoke to a salesman at the last dealership and he arrogantly asserted that people wanted a piece of history but didn’t want to pay for it. I hope Holden dealerships aren’t going to have the same attitude with the final MY17 Commodores they get and have them sitting in dealer lots well into next year.
wait for a couple of years…hundreds will be coming off lease
