Let us address your thoughts right here, right now: it’s highly unlikely Buick will be getting a hotter variant of the Buick Regal TourX. There, we said it.
Now, for Europe, Opel will let you indulge. Spy shots show the upcoming Insignia Sports Tourer GSi in the flesh with only the “GSi” badge itself missing. And my, may we say, it’s a good looking thing. It takes all of the racy cues from the Insignia GSi, shared with the 2018 Buick Regal GS, and applies them to the already-sleek looking wagon body style.
The Insignia Sports Tourer GSi will surely share the same 2.0-liter LTG turbocharged four-cylinder engine to be found in the liftback version of Insignia GSi. That engine is identical to the same powerplant found in the 2017 Buick Regal GS, which produces 260 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Gone is the old, yet lovable, 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine. For 2018, North America’s new Regal GS switches to a 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine.
The Opel Insignia GSi is expected to make its official debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this September, and the fact this GSi wagon was spied sans camo likely means we’ll see it at the same auto show.
