The COPO Camaro has quite a backstory to it, but if there is one particular model year to seek, it’s 1969. Good news if you’re in the market for such a car because Mecum Auctions has consigned a 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro and it will find a new home next month.
This 1969 COPO Camaro features the L72 427 ci. big-block V8 engine producing 425 horsepower paired to a 4-speed Muncie manual gearbox. Included with the COPO treatment is a special Positraction rear-end, chambered exhaust, heavy-duty suspension and a cowl-induction hood. So, yes, the 1969 COPO Camaro is full of goodies.
It’s car 9561 and has called Spokane, Washington home its entire life after a meticulous rotisserie restoration. It’s even been refinished in its original Fathom Green exterior color and sports the “poverty” hubcaps.
The car has been certified as authentic by the Camaro Hi-Performance organization and comes with said certificate. Mecum doesn’t list an estimate, but it’s certainly not going to be a cheap car in any way, shape or form when it crosses the block in Portland, Oregon on June 14.
