If you’re like us, that is, residing in the midwestern region of the United States, winter is here. Snow, frigid temperatures and icy conditions round out the weather reports on local news stations every evening.
Good thing Chevrolet has the Silverado Alaskan Edition on its way as we deal with the slush and snow. The Silverado Alaskan Edition is a factory-prepped pickup with a snowplow package ready to tackle whatever the snow amount measures up.
It’s based on the 2017 Silverado 2500 HD, which means it will also feature the latest 6.6-liter Duramax L5P turbo diesel V8 engine. While we can only go on what we’ve seen from the show truck, the bright blue pickup looks properly rugged, outfitted with grizzly bear graphics and a leveling kit for when the plow is attached.
Chevy was thinking about the interior cabin, too. The entire floor is rubberized to swipe away the snow and ice that will inevitably pile up inside.
The brand hasn’t set a solid release date for the Alaskan Edition package for the 2500 HD, but it certainly can’t come soon enough. Neither can spring.

Hum,We had more snow and colder temperatures in Bangor Maine almost every day during the wintaaah of14’15’! The North Pole was warmer almost every day! Fact ,look it up! I’m going with the Maine edition! 6.0 three quarter ton and no fuel jelling issues!
We spend 40 ro 60 thousand on these trucks when they build them to not be rot boxes in 10 years I’ll buy one
That’d be nice. It’s a shame seeing these 07s and up all rotted out while my 95 is still spotless.
I saw an Alaskan edition for sale at better Chevrolet in Muskegon, Michigan. It has no plows only a sticker that says Alaskan on the quarter panel and a grizzly bear outline decal on it. An absolute fraud. Someone should do something about them. If I bought a truck that says Alaskan on it but was a fake I would be furious.
I don’t think they’d sell it with a plow attached, just the mounts and electronics for it.
