2017 Chevrolet Camaro V6 1LE Finishes Mid-Pack In Driver’s Car Shootout

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro V6 1LE may forever live in the shadow of its V8-powered brother, but that doesn’t mean it should be avoided. In fact, it has the chops to hold its own.

Motor Trend recently compiled “the leftovers” from its Best Driver’s Car competition, and decided to give a handful of cars another shot at proving themselves. Here is where the 2017 Camaro V6 1LE found itself.

It’s a varied group of vehicles, ranging from Focus RS, to Porsche 718 Boxster and even to the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. How’d the Camaro do with just a 3.6-liter LGX V6 under the hood? Not too shabby.

The publication placed the 2017 Camaro V6 1LE in a respectable fourth place, beating out the Ford Focus RS and BMW M2. The V6 1LE was praised for its poised driving dynamics, despite its lack of equipment compared to the V8 1LE. But, it’s the lack of equipment that also hurt it.

The low torque number and sloppier shifter made fewer friends, and it wasn’t enough to break out of its V8-powered sibling’s shadow.

But taking down the Ultimate Driving Machine? That’s not too bad, even if it is just a V6.
