Danny Popp Wins Optima Invitational In Lingenfelter C5 Corvette

Danny Popp has won the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Invitational for the third consecutive year and the fourth time since 2011.

Popp accumulated a total score of 491 across five different categories in his Lingenfelter LS7-powered C5 Chevrolet Corvette Z06: Design & Engineering, Road Rally, Speed-Stop, Autocross and Road Course. He beat out nearly 90 vehicles in the various driving challenges, which were hosted at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Apart from the Lingenfelter tuned LS engine, Popp’s Corvette also benefits from Forgeline lightweight wheels, Baer brakes, a COMP cam and more.

“We’re excited about the unpreceded three-peat,” Popp said. “It is a testament of the fact that extraordinary results are more easily accomplished through the efforts of many. Thank you to all of our partners for making this happen. I feel lucky to be the driver of this Lingenfelter-powered 2003 C5 Z06 Corvette.”

The Optima Search for the Ultimate Streetcar is exactly what it’s name implies, a search for the fastest, most capable street-legal cars in the United States. The competition pits the entries against each other in a variety of real-world street driving challenges, testing the limits of both car and driver.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.
