Redline Motorsports Tests 2016 Camaro SS With Nearly 1,000 Horsepower: Video

The aftermarket world has wasted no time in taking the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS and pushing it to new heights. We’ve already seen some stellar performance figures from the Big Three of tuning, which is what we’re nicknaming the trio of Hennessey Performance Engineering, Callaway Cars, and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, as of right now. However, the ever-surprising Redline Motorsports is on a mission of its own – to successfully build the first 1,000 hp sixth-generation Camaro SS. This video shows us just how close they are to reaching their goal.

On a mild tune with 11 pounds of boost, the turbocharged LT1-powered Camaro made a hefty 830 rear wheel horsepower. This is enough to launch the pony car down the quarter-mile strip in 10.2 seconds with a speed trap of about 146 miles per hour. These impressive figures were achieved despite calibration teething issues with the automatic eight-speed transmission.

Based off what we see here we think Redline Motorsports is close to the final product, and we can’t wait to see what times they are able to get down after all the kinks are ironed out.

A car-loving millennial. We Are!
