Warning: rest in peace headphone users; it gets quite loud. Now that we’ve saved your eardrums from bursting, we’ll tell you a little bit about what Kooks has going on here.
Kooks has finally developed and installed a full exhaust and headers kit for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, and it sounds just as you would imagine. The video above shows a few different variations of what Kooks can do, beginning with stock 6.2-liter LT1 V8 noises, and progressing to the full exhaust and headers setup.
Kooks has not revealed performance gains from the setup, but we imagine the headers do the car well in delivering notable gains for real-world performance. Not to mention, the 2016 Camaro SS takes on an even badder persona with an idle like this.
Comments
Stock exhaust sounded a lot better than the Kooks catback. The headers with the OEM exhaust was the winner, if you want rowdy.
I hate to be that guy…but the new optional multi-mode Exhaust on the Corvette and SS Camaro makes cat-backs completely superfluous if you’re just going for a meaner sound. Except for the addition of headers, nothing really changed in the sound quality of the exhaust.
If it were my money, I’d go with Kooks or another brand’s Long tubes, and leave the optional multi-mode cat back in place. At least you know the long tubes will give you a real performance boost. And Headers ALWAYS give a V8 that nice “race sound” anyway.
