Car and Driver says that the 2016 Chevrolet Impala is “the first one that could truly be called dashing since the 1960 model.” We’d have to agree for the most part, as the previous Impalas offer very little to someone who is looking for a ‘hot’ ride. One thing’s for sure, the tenth-generation Impala has everyone staring, including us.
The new Impala is so stylish that Car and Driver decided to include it in a list of the ten best-looking cars under $35K. Other vehicles to make the list included the likes of the Audi A3, Ford Mustang, and the Mercedes-Benz CLA-class. However, the Impala was just one of three full-sized sedans in the segment, making it one of the few good-looking vehicles in its class that are more easily affordable.
The Midnight Edition would be our preferred ‘model of choice,’ because it doesn’t get any cleaner than the all-black finish. But even the base Impala is attractive, and with a starting price of $28K the sleek sedan offers a lot for relatively a little. If we bring the 2016 Camaro and 2016 Malibu into the picture, one could make the argument that Chevrolet is in first place when it comes to the latest redesigns. Well, at least in our opinion.

Agree with you!
And Go PSU!!!
Impala certainly! Malibu somewhat. Camaro not so much.
I drove a rental 2014 Impala in Florida and loved it! Everyone in my family also like it very much, including my niece (who drives an Infinity) who fell asleep in it during one long drive. She later told me it was the “smootest ride” she ever had. The trunk is huge! My nephew and I (we are both over six feet tall and 220 pound each) went in and lie inside with space to spare.
I am extremely pleased that the 2016 Chevy Malibu has taken a small-Impala look and shape, so it will sell very well, especially its 47 MPG hybrid version derived from the Volt’s powertrain. Keep up the superb work, GM!
I wish to add that the other two Chevy behemoths (Traverse and Tahoe) have copied the Impala grille in the 2015 models so that desgin will continue to cross the Chevy line and anyone can see the new “Chevy Family”.
I bought a 2015 Impala LTZ, Black, fully loaded V6,…Drives,handles beautifully! I get at least 2 comments a week on its looks from total strangers! If your in the market for a new car, check it out!
Impala redefines Chevrolet. This should have been the mid sized offering because it would have destroyed Fusion and Accord.
