Sugar Ray Lead Singer Mark McGrath Loves His Cadillac XTS

The Cadillac XTS catches a lot of flack, both from owners, and from members of the automotive press. Never having lived with one day-to-day, we can neither confirm nor deny what others have said about it.

But the Cadillac XTS does have at least one devoted fan out there; Motor Trend recently caught up with Mark McGrath, lead singer of the band Sugar Ray, who says that in his book, the Cadillac XTS gets a perfect 10 out of 10.

“It’s the greatest car,” the musician told Motor Trend. “I love Cadillacs, especially this one. It drives like a dream.”

Of course, McGrath is hardly impartial to the brand; he’s been a longtime fan of the Cadillac Escalade, and before that, he owned a 1968 Coupe DeVille. “I loved [it] dearly, and we even wrote a song about it called ‘Mean Machine’ on our first record,” he said. “They’re a piece of Americana.” In fact, McGrath is such a devoted Cadillac fan that he even has a large tattoo of the brand crest on his hip.

The reason for his fanaticism? In his own words: “Most people have a story about a Cadillac, and it’s fun to hear them, especially when you’re driving those old drivers. People know what I’m talking about.

“If they’ve ever had a classic Cadillac, they are conversation pieces to say the least.”
