Sixth-Generation 2016 Camaro Unveiling On Belle Isle Already Booked Up

Chevrolet will be unveiling the new sixth-generation 2016 Camaro on Belle Isle in Detroit on May 16th, but if you were hoping to attend, you are (sadly) out of luck; registration filled up within about 8 hours of opening, something that not even Chevy had anticipated.

And if you were hoping to get in on a wait list, there’s still more bad news; the list had more than 800 names on it by about 12 hours after registration open.

Of course, there’s no need to fret if you can’t attend the event: Chevrolet will be broadcasting a live video feed that you can enjoy at home. Needless to say, we’ll cover the event quite extensively here at GM Authority, too, so be sure to check back after the reveal.

Despite the sixth-generation 2016 Camaro looming imminent, Chevrolet insists that sales of the current fifth-generation car remain strong, with the 500,000th fifth-gen model to be delivered some time this month.

The sixth-generation will share a birthplace with the Cadillac ATS and CTS: GM’s Grand River Plant in Lansing, Michigan. We expect it to become available later this year, as a 2016 model.
