A new video is making the rounds on social media that puts a festive spin on traditional Christmas tree decorating. The video features a classic Chevy Camaro, which captures some of that holiday spirit with tire smoke and twinkling lights. Because after all, nothing sets off a Christmas party quite like the smell of burning rubber.
The video showcases a second-generation Chevy Camaro in silver with black accents, which takes center stage in a unique holiday performance. The classic Chevy is seen circling a Christmas tree in a series of controlled donuts, with the driver deftly managing the throttle to keep the rear tires spinning while the car moves laterally in a broad arc. As the Camaro burns rubber, a passenger in the back seat unrolls a string of colorful holiday lights, carefully wrapping the tree in glowing cheer.
The whole scene is set to Brenda Lee’s classic holiday tune “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” providing the perfect soundtrack to this high-octane holiday display and complementing the V8 growl nicely. With the smoke rising and the lights shining, it’s hard not to feel a touch of the holiday spirit. You can almost smell the vaporized rubber mingling with the scent of pine.
Even though the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro has been discontinued, fans of the nameplate will no doubt continue to celebrate it whenever and however they can. If that means rolling out the classic from the garage for a few donuts while stringing some holiday lights on the Christmas tree, well, that sounds like the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
