2015 Chevrolet Traverse Earns Five-Star Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) created the 5-Star Safety Rating Program to test vehicles beyond what is required by federal law. The program provides consumers with information about a new vehicle’s crash protection and rollover safety for comparison, with five stars being the highest score.

In a recent test, the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse has earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. The Traverse received five stars in front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test.

The 2015 Traverse comes equipped with electronic stability control, antilock brakes, a rearview camera system and tire-pressure monitoring system as standard. The high-line Traverse LTZ also boasts forward collision alert and lane-departure warning systems as standard.

While the Traverse scored favorably in the crash test, its competitors have also done well, with the 2015 Toyota Highlander earning a five-star overall rating and the 2015 Honda Pilot earning a four-star rating.

  1. Now all it needs is the E2XX Platform and a 7-Speed DCT. Active Grille Shutters and a Stop/Start system should also be standard to improve fuel economy. A hybrid wouldn’t be a bad idea (especially to better compete with the Pathfinder and Highlander).
