It’s not often that people find themselves behind the wheel of a car with 460 horsepower and still wishing for more.  But that’s exactly what the folks at Edelbrock did with the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Their Stingray has a more satisfying 624 horsepower and 600 pound-foot of torque, thanks to an all-new, bolt-on E-Force supercharger kit developed for the Stingray’s LT1 V8.
This is pretty interesting because that will push any Stingray very close to the performance figures of the 2015 Corvette Z06 at a much cheaper price and the potential to be a timeless car. Â While not officially announced, the new 2015 Z06 is expected to cost around just under $100K, while the supercharger will cost less than $8,000 as an add-on for a car that runs around $55,000. But of course, more power isn’t always everything… the 2015 Z06 is much more than just its supercharged LT4 6.2L V8 engine.
Edelbrock says the new supercharger will be offered in three performance levels:
- Stage 1 – Street Systems: this tune is 50-state emissions legal for a daily driver.
- Stage 2 – Track Systems: includes the addition of a competition air intake kit, smaller pulley, injectors (if required), and a custom tune optimized for these upgrades. This package is meant for competition racing only and will be available complete or as an upgrade.
- Stage 3 – Professional Tuner Systems: anything one would need to build a custom supercharged racing setup, which is also for competition racing use only.
For those who appreciate subtlety, the E-Force supercharger will fit right under the stock Stingray hood and won’t sacrifice runner length of the intercooler area, although the audible supercharger whine is sure to give away that the Stingray is pushing powers well beyond the stock offering.
