General Motors President Dan Amman spoke to students at Peking University, one of the China’s most prestigious universities, on April 19 as part of the Career Development and Global Leadership Forum sponsored by Peking University and Junior Achievement China.
Amman told his audience about his career aspirations while he was growing up in New Zealand and how he transformed those goals into a successful career in both the automotive an investment banking industries. GM says he encouraged the students to be global, willing to take chances, be prepared to change careers and to consider a job in traditional industries such as the automotive industry. Amman also gave the students insights on developing important leadership skills, pointing out that good leaders set priorities, are honest and lead by example.
Amman is currently visiting Beijing for Auto China 2014, the country’s largest automotive exhibition, which opened its doors yesterday.
